Location & surroundings
A Casa Amarela is located in Central Portugal and is therefore an excellent base for excursions. The area offers many opportunities for sports enthusiasts (think of hiking, biking, golf or water sports activities), but also for people who want to completely relax. Motorcyclists are also well catered for, it is nice to drive on the various winding roads and a place to store the motorcycle safely and dry.
Both skiing and a walk on the beach in one day? That is possible, both the sea and the ski area are an hour’s drive away.
The place coimbra (which is home to one of the oldest universities in the world), is well worth a visit. Take a stroll in the old city center, take a boat trip on the Mondego River or go shopping in one of the modern shopping centers.
Central Portugal is not called the Green Heart for nothing and has several nature reserves. The most famous is the Serra de Estrela with the highest mountain on the mainland (2,000 meters). You can even ski here during the winter months.
The Serra de Açor has several picturesque slate villages, including Píodão and hiking areas that lead you over wooden bridges and past waterfalls. A fun and special day trip is to Fraga da Pena, the waterfalls at Benfeita. Here you can walk all the way up to the origin of the falls in the protected nature reserve. With a breathtaking view of course!
Of course there is much more to do. Do you want to know what else there is to experience? Then come to the bar or talk to us and we will gladly tell you what there is to do while enjoying ‘uma bica’ (Portuguese espresso). Tailored to your wishes.
